Broome WA

Greetings everyone from Broome Visitor Centre. Here on the Kimberely coast of Western Australia we are currently tracking the progress on tropical Cyclone Magda. For everyone in the Northern Hemisphere our cyclones rotate in the opposite direction to your hurricanes.

It is not a common occurence here in Broome but at the end of 2009 we were affected by cyclone Laurence which brought with it high winds and a lot of rain.

We are situated on 18 degrees from the equator here in Broome.

Lots of info on Broome can be sourced at our website.http://www.broomevistorcentre.com.au
We will keep updating cyclone information as it comes to hand.

What's up in Broome

More Greetings from Broome,

Want to update you on all the news.

Check out this amazing new project from Tourism Western Australia:

Imagine hopping into a taxi and saying “Can you take us around Western Australia?” This is what happens when the driver says yes.

In 2010 ‘extraordinary’ comes to life with a new take on the epic road trip: a 9-week journey to explore the people, stories, sights and experiences of Western Australia – in a taxi.

First we’ll find our extraordinary taxi driver. A real local character who loves this great state, knows their way around it and is up for showcasing some of our best kept secrets. Along for different legs of the ride will be passengers from around Australia and the world, who have won their place by giving an extraordinary reason for coming on The Extraordinary Taxi Ride. A young guy wants to propose to his girlfriend as they swim with the world’s biggest fish – the gentle whale shark – on Ningaloo reef? We might invite him to take the plunge.

We’ll explore many of the extraordinary corners of Western Australia in 11 legs, from the whitest beach in Australia at Lucky Bay in Esperance to the tiger striped Bungle Bungle Range in World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park in the Kimberley. Everyone around the world can take part in one way or another: from voting for our Cabbie and suggesting their own must-see stops, to applying to be passengers, or following videos of what our taxi driver and passengers are actually seeing and experiencing as the journey unfolds.

Get ready to experience extraordinary.

We are about to welcome more cruise ships to Broome. Next visit is from the Pacific Sun on Feb 20.
Its the wet season in Broome at the moment but that doesn’t mean rain neccessarily. In fact we haven’t had a decent dowpour for about three weeks. instead the humidity is about 70%, phew!
